ABOUT ME"JcWhat" Jerome Christopher OCP - DBA Web: http://www.sqlhtm.com Blog: http://sqlhtm.blogspot.com Email: Jerome_christopher@yahoo.com FAQFAQ 1: Why the name Sqlhtm.com? Much of this web site is about writing SQL*Plus queries and scripts which typically get used in batch scripts to produce HTM-formatted reports. FAQ 2: Why HTM and not HTML? In the old days, extensions were restricted to 3 chars and so we had to make do with htm. Later when the restrictions were removed, people started using html. As far as I have found out, using HTM is same as using HTML. HTM is HTML without the 'L'. Refer to the table on top right of the Wiki page about HTML file types : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML. FAQ 3: What is it about carets[^] and the other metacharacters? Windows batch programming requires the use of carets[^] to escape the metacharacters in statements when ECHO is used. A list of metacharacters that need to be escaped are [ & && | || ( ) < > << >> ] according to documentations. Please use debugging statements and the pause statement to locate and add escapes to other metacharacters if any, like _. When there is a percent sign [%] to be escaped, use another percent sign. For example, to get 100%, use 100%% in the echo statement. |
